Three Bills to Look Out for in 2023-24

Writer: James YangJames Yang

Here are three bills to look out for in 2023 and 2024!

1. Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Act

More than 95% of pediatric cancer survivors face some form of health related issue by the time they are 45 years of age. There is currently no standard of care for these individuals in a primacy care setting. This bill would help promote an easier transition from active oncology treatment to primary care, so patients can continue to receive the follow-up and care that they need to diagnose and treat any health issues that may arise down the line.

2. Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act

When patients seek care in other states, many have to go through a Medicaid provider screening and enrollment process which can be lengthy and time-consuming. This act will help streamline the process, so patients can get the care they need.

3. Clinical Trial Coverage Act

Participating in clinical trials can be expensive, especially for trials that require significant out of pocket costs. This act would require insurers to cover out of network routine care for participants in clinical trials if no in network provider can be found. This would help improve access to clinical trial treamtents for both adult and pediatric patients.

These three bills can be potentially passed this year! Please contact your local representative and urge them to support these acts! Whether it be an email or a phone call, everything helps! Please let us know if you have any questions!!
